Novels! RPG content! Heavy metal! And more!

If you’ve ever wanted the chance to own A WHOLE BUNCH OF GREAT NOVELS by indie authors, here’s your chance.

Chronicles of the Crossing is Storytellers Forge’s follow-up project to The Black Ballad, an epic Dungeons & Dragons campaign about what happens to your party after they die. In Chronicles, a bunch of independent authors have been given the chance to write tie-in novels set in the Black Ballad world – including me!

You don’t need to know anything about The Black Ballad to start with any of these books. They all share the same setting of the Sunless Crossing, where RPG characters go to await potential resurrection, but none of them assume any prior knowledge. They all stand alone, and they all contribute to the bigger story if you’re into that.

Go and follow the Chronicles of the Crossing BackerKit page now to get notified when the crowdfunding campaign goes live! Which it does in, like, two days! (Ish, I think. I dunno, I’m not in the same time zone as the countdown.)

I can’t tell you what’s in the other books, ‘cos I haven’t read them. But I have read some of the authors’ other work, and I can tell you it’s gonna rule. Plus there’ll be opportunities to grab RPG content, a metal album, artwork, and more.

The blurb for Mortal Coils, the novel I’m contributing to the project, is as follows…

When necromancer Mara finds herself in purgatory, she only has two options:

wait for her master to drag her back as an undead slave, or find a way to pass on to whatever waits beyond. But her afterlife won’t come easy, not when her god’s condition is that she disturb the eternal rest of deities long buried…

For Mara, who’s spent the past ten years training to be a remorseless practitioner of the dark arts, reviving dead gods doesn’t sound dubious at all, but she’ll need help to accomplish the task. With a party composed of an amnesiac philosopher, a life-affirming cleric, and a godhood-aspiring man whose corpse she once raised to serve her, what could possibly go wrong?

And, for the visually inclined, you can also watch the video trailer! It’s an awesome trailer. You should watch it.

So yeah! Hopefully I’ll see you on the other side of an extremely successful campaign…!
