Wassup.
Gonna keep this one short and sweet, but there’s a BIG AND COOL UPDATE at the end, so stay tuned for that.
Wot I Wrote
So the main thing I did in September was worldbuilding for something that probably isn’t going to see fruition for a long time. Which, yes, was maybe a bit silly when there are other things I could actually be drafting, but I think it’ll be worth it.
All I’ll say for now is this: Giant. Snails.
Wot I Enjoyed
I’m still reading Don Quixote, because it’s very very long. On the side, though, I’m also now most of the way through Our Friends from Frolix 8 by Philip K. Dick, a sci-fi novel that I don’t think is considered one of his best or most notable but is raising some interesting questions in the way that good sci-fi tends to do.
Been listening to a lot of Felix Rösch‘s stuff, which I think provides some really fantastic examples of the wonderful genre of mixing classical composition techniques with modern electronic production.
And I’ve also been enjoying the Let’s Learn Everything! podcast, and as the title suggests have indeed learned a lot.
I’m also gonna throw in a Wot I Enjoyed from my day job, which is that in the course of doing a bit of analysis of a survey I learned about the Lizardman Constant, which is essentially that there’ll always be a chunk of about 4% of survey respondents who will give truly bizarre answers because they’re bored or think it’s funny or just to mess with the results, or even because they haven’t understood the question. So you can generally ignore the most extreme 4% of responses, because they’re probably not legit.
Other Bits Wot I Done
Day job, man. Lots of day job.
Anyway, here’s the BIG EXCITING THING: crowdfunding for Chronicles of the Crossing goes live in, like, FIVE DAYS. I’m gonna do a whole separate post about this, but suffice to say it is EXCITING and there are BOOKS including one by ME and also RPG CONTENT and METAL MUSIC and ART and AAAAAHHHHHHHH
What I’m saying is, you should absolutely back this, because it’s awesome.
Oh, one more thing: if you sign up for my mailing list, I’ll send you five completely free short stories you can’t read anywhere else. So do!
