Other Publications

Anthologies, Collections, and Other Works

Here be published works of mine in volumes that don’t have my name on the cover, basically. My solo works will each have their own page, and anything Skullgate Media is on… well, the Skullgate Media page. Go figure.

THE NEW NORMAL
edited by Nikki Mitchell

THE BOOK
An anthology of zombie stories running the gamut from Pure Terrifying Zombies to Wholesome Romance In Zombieworld to Odd Zombie Science.

MY CONTRIBUTION
‘Meaningful Differences’, a story about the value of individual strengths and… well, differences.
‘All Work and No Play’, an odd little sci-fi-ish jaunt into the daily grind of two fun-loving nightmare makers.

BRIGHT NEON FUTURES
edited by Edward Caio, HM Simmons, and Angelica Curzi

THE BOOK
Some visions of the future are bleak. This book says they don’t have to be. Even in the cyberpunk worlds of this volume’s tales, there’s always love, happiness, or hope to be found somewhere.

MY CONTRIBUTION
‘Defragmentation’, the story of one woman’s desperate journey to deliver a package. But to whom, and why?

VAMPIRES & VOYAGES (Indie Bites vol #1)
edited by Josie Jaffrey

THE BOOK
All the stories are about vampires, voyages, or both. There are vampires haunted by their pasts, vampires who can’t remember their pasts, and all sorts.

MY CONTRIBUTION
‘Enduring Wrecks’, a short story chronicling one old vampire’s efforts to live a normal life after too many years of loss and fear. Naturally, things don’t go entirely to plan.

You can also listen to an audio version of ‘Enduring Wrecks’, read by the spectacularly dulcet Max Windich, on Indie Bites’ podcast here.

CHIMERA (from Lost Boys Press)
edited by Ashley Hutchison

THE BOOK
Each of Chimera‘s ten tales (tails?) mashes at least two monsters or myths together, with results sometimes disturbing, sometimes alarming, and sometimes just odd.

MY CONTRIBUTION
‘The Real Treasure’ is probably one of the lighter stories in the collection, but saying too much about why would spoil it. Suffice to say that it doesn’t take itself very seriously in the process of blending a few legendary creatures.

HEADS & TALES: THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY
edited by Chapel Orahamm

THE BOOK
History is told by the victors.
Stories are told by the heroes.
Until now.
This collection retells 14 classic stories you may think you already know, from perspectives you never thought to consider.

MY CONTRIBUTION
‘The Right Hand of the King’ is a pair of stories retelling part of the Arthurian legend. Chapel Orahamm and I teamed up to create this, and it was awesome.

SHIFTERS & SHOWBIZ
(Indie Bites vol #2)
edited by Josie Jaffrey

THE BOOK
Fame, fortune, and fantasy are all explored in this collection of short stories about shapeshifters and/or show business.

MY CONTRIBUTION
‘Swansongs’, a story about a mysterious spate of sudden master-level performances followed immediately by the deaths of the performers. It may not be as sinister as it sounds.

THE TIME INN
issue #2 of Comic Book School’s Creator Connections

THE BOOK
An opportunity for writers and artists to join forces to create shorts on the theme of ‘The Time Inn’.

MY CONTRIBUTION
‘Innfinity’ is a flash fiction (only about 1000 words) about a hotel that deals not in holidays to wheres, but to whens. Artist Fernando Carvalho provided some wonderful illustrations to go with it.

HEROES (from Lost Boys Press)
edited by Ashley Hutchison, Brennan Cupp, Brett Mann, and Emily Rozmus

THE BOOK
Timeless tales of heroes from legend are retold in this anthology, from Greek to Irish to Norse adventures.

MY CONTRIBUTION
‘Immortal Kingdom’, a reimagining of the Epic of Gilgamesh in a dystopian tech-heavy world. More robots, more explicit queerness, more fun times.
